Narsingdi, 1 June 2025 – Selima Rahman, a standing committee member of BNP, said that the ongoing incidents of mob justice in Bangladesh are part of a staged drama by the current interim government. She believes that through these incidents, the government is trying to mislead the public.
On Sunday afternoon, Selima Rahman made these remarks as the chief guest at a discussion meeting and prayer event organized by the Narsingdi District Women’s Wing on the occasion of the 44th death anniversary of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman. She said, “The government is creating dramas to divert people’s attention. Law and order in the country are deteriorating. Crimes like enforced disappearances, murders, robberies, and muggings have increased. Women face harassment as soon as they step outside. All this is happening in the name of mob justice.”
She further said, “Although the government talks about reforms, in reality, no reforms are taking place. Changing police uniforms does not mean reform. True reform means changing people’s mindset. But in the past ten months, the government has done nothing. They are only showing off to foreigners. Elections must be completed by December; this is the call of the time.”
The discussion meeting was presided over by District Women’s Wing President Advocate Umme Kulsum Maya. Also speaking at the event were BNP Joint Secretary General and District BNP President Khairul Kabir Khokon, Self-Reliance Affairs Secretary Begum Shirin Sultana, District Women’s Wing General Secretary Salma Akter Swapna Ahmed, and other leaders.
The speakers said that the current situation of the country is dire. Ordinary people have no security, and the justice system has collapsed. They called for a united movement against the government.
