Fire at Bangladesh Supreme Court

New Dhaka Times: Desk Report

A fire broke out on the third floor of the Appellate Division building of the Bangladesh Supreme Court. The fire reportedly started from a short circuit in the rooftop storeroom around 10:45 AM on Tuesday (June 3).

Immediately after the incident, Supreme Court staff attempted to control the fire using extinguishers. Within just 15 to 20 minutes, the fire was largely brought under control. Later, a team from the Fire Service arrived at the scene and completely extinguished the fire.

Supreme Court Public Relations Officer Md. Shafiqul Islam stated that some papers, stationery, and plastic items stored in the storeroom were burned in the fire. However, there was no major damage.

He also confirmed that no official documents or case-related papers were stored in the room — only general office supplies were kept there.
