BNP Leader Shamsuzzaman Dudu’s Strong Message to India: Stop illegally sending citizens through the border and send back Sheikh Hasina.
New Dhaka Times: Desk Report
BNP Vice Chairman Shamsuzzaman Dudu has alleged that India is illegally pushing thousands of Bengali-speaking Indian citizens into Bangladesh every day through the border. He called upon India, saying: “Do not send your citizens illegally into Bangladesh; instead, push in the dictator Sheikh Hasina whom you have illegally kept and entertained.”
On Thursday (June 26), he made these remarks at a citizen rally organized by the “Save the Country, Save the People Movement” in front of the National Press Club.
Shamsuzzaman Dudu said, “Not only Sheikh Hasina, those Bangladeshi citizens who have stolen money and fled to your country — push them in too.” He further stated that although India is considered a friendly country, Bangladesh has not received friendly behavior in the last 50–55 years. “What we have received is deeply tragic. We have no water in the Teesta River, no water treaty either. For 50 years, India has only given promises but has never signed a treaty.”
He also said, “The situation created after the fall of dictator Sheikh Hasina is also tragic. Every day, the Indian government is pushing in Bengali-speaking Indian citizens into Bangladesh. Even West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has said that just for speaking Bengali, one is being declared a Bangladeshi citizen.”
The former MP called upon Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying, “Push back those Bangladeshis who stole money and fled to India, not your own citizens. Sheikh Hasina is the murderer of Bangladesh’s democracy; she has brought the country to the brink of destruction. If you host her with care and push your own citizens into our country, that cannot be accepted.”
He said, “Send Sheikh Hasina back to Bangladesh — only then we will consider that a good deed. But hosting her and pushing in your own citizens is not acceptable.”
He further warned India, “If you do not send back the murderers of democracy and looters, don’t assume that good things await India. Once the people of Bangladesh rise, they will not tolerate this injustice from India.”
Addressing the general public, this former president of the Chhatra Dal said, “The biggest murderer is Sheikh Hasina. She must be brought back to Bangladesh and brought under trial. India’s wrongdoing must be protested and resisted through unity.”
The citizen rally was presided over by “Save the Country, Save the People Movement” president K.M. Rakibul Islam Ripon. Among others who spoke were BNP Chairperson’s Adviser Habibur Rahman Habib, Labor Party Chairman Lion Faruk Rahman, Krishak Dal Office Secretary S.K. Sadi, and General Secretary of the organization Jewel.
